ABOUT KINGFISHER


Kingfisher Church is made up of ordinary people from all walks of life who understand they need to continually rely on God. We aren't perfect, but we seek a God who cares and desires to be active in our daily life. We believe church is for everyone; it should be fun, exciting, powerful and relevant.

  • Our History

    The story so far...

    In 1993, a group of just twelve people set out to start a church with a difference - a place where ordinary non-religious people could come and make a life-transforming discovery that they matter to God and that they matter to other people.

    That group of people - now a much larger group, numbering over 300 at Kingfisher Tredworth- believed that Church should be the place where people can go and find help when life falls apart, a sense of belonging in the face of growing isolation in society, and a sense of purpose as they discover who God made them to be and what they should be doing with their lives.

    In December 2006 Kingfisher Elmbridge was launched in Elmbridge Junior School with a group of people committed to these same values. In January 2009 this church moved to the Kingsway Community Centre and is now called Kingfisher Quedgeley - this was due to there being a much more obvious need for a church in that area and it has already seen rapid growth.

    Kingfisher isn't just a traditional church for "religious" people - its a place for ordinary people who want their lives to be transformed and who want to be a part of a growing community of people of all ages and backgrounds who are discovering the truth of Jesus' words: "My purpose is to give LIFE in all its fullness" (John 10:10, The Living Bible)

    Our Core Values

    Kingfisher Church is an interdenominational church and part of an international network of churches, aiming to be places where people don't need to pretend to be what they aren't. God accepts us as we are, and therefore Kingfisher Church is a place where we can be accepted for who we really are. We believe that lost people matter to God and therefore the primary function of this church is to reach those lost people with the Good News of Jesus Christ and see them transformed into fully devoted followers of Christ.
