“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7 NIV
To cast is to throw something forcefully in a specified direction. Here we are told to do that with our anxiety, throw it with force in the direction of God! His shoulders are wide enough to carry the weight of it, and He is willing to take this because He really does care, and He’s ready to exchange it for His peace and His strength (His comfort!) So next time anxiety threatens to overwhelm you and upset you, don’t take it out on yourself or on anybody or anything else, take it to Jesus, pray, cast it on Him! He’s already proven His capability by dying on a cross and rising from the dead! I realise and accept that I am not God but He is, and I matter to Him and He has the power to deal with it all! Now that’s good news 😊
