Father, forgive them // 15-04-19

“Two others, both criminals, were led out to be executed with him. When they came to a place called The Skull, they nailed him to the cross. And the criminals were also crucified—one on his right and one on his left. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.”” Luke‬ ‭23:32-34‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God in the flesh, dying with the undeserving for the undeserving, each hammer blow nailing the sin that so separates us from Him as Jesus took what I deserve! Let’s not get used to this picture. It is shocking and incongruous that God’s unfailing, relentless love for us resulted in the brutality of crucifixion, and yet so incredibly wonderful that Jesus would do that for me, forgiveness and reconciliation now freely available because of His sacrifice! Lord, I know I am undeserving but I am so grateful for Your grace and mercy. Help me to never forget or take it for granted, but to always live free in the light of what You have done. Amen ✞= ♥
