I remember // 10-05-19

“I think of God, and I moan, overwhelmed with longing for his help…I am too distressed even to pray!…Has the Lord rejected me forever? Will he never again be kind to me? Is his unfailing love gone forever? Have his promises permanently failed? Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he slammed the door on his compassion?…But then I recall all you have done, O Lord; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works.” Psalms‬ ‭77:3-4, 7-9, 11-12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I love the honesty of the Psalms, the rawness and pain expressed here of how it can feel spiritually when life isn’t easy and doubt creeps in! But look at the antidote and the incredible hope that comes when we switch the focus of our thoughts from the questions to the answer, when we recall and remember who God is, what He is like and what He can do! Lord, help me to hold any thought captive that is trying to pull me away from You, and instead let me be captivated by You Jesus. Amen 🙏🏼

If you are finding it hard to pray, come join us at church tomorrow at 9am – we can pray for you!!
