“Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.” Hebrews 12:15 NLT
Does anyone else find showing grace a tough call? When we feel hurt it is so tempting to succumb to the poison of bitterness that tastes so right and so good initially. But then it hardens the heart and it comes out in our words, tearing others down and destroying relationships. Staying in that place of offence will literally build a fence, bringing division and separation. It is so detrimental to healthy community and to our mission to share the good news of God’s amazing grace with the world. Grace is the antidote to taking offence. My goal as a Christian is for the salvation of many not the corruption of many, so Lord, help me when I’m wounded to find comfort in You, to guard my heart and to extend grace, seeking understanding and reconciliation where I can, my words an encouragement and my life reflecting the light of your grace. Help us to get better at looking after each other. Amen 🙏🏼
