Home for Christmas // 07-12-20

“All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census. And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He travelled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. He took with him Mary, to whom he was engaged, who was now expecting a child.” Luke‬ ‭2:3-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

That first Christmas it wasn’t Covid setting the rules about where you could and couldn’t go, it was the occupying Romans! Life, just like now, had been disrupted for everyone, but rather than being told to stay at home, Joseph, and Mary had to endure a 90 mile journey on foot through difficult and dangerous terrain to get to Bethlehem, with nowhere to stay and a baby on the way. And it was into this time of restrictive uncertainty that Jesus was born! He brought hope and light and joy then, and He still is today! No matter what this next few weeks brings we can take heart, because our Saviour has come 🙌🏼😊
