“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me…to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favour…” Isaiah 61:1-2 NIV
This is where Jesus ended His reading in Luke 4:19, halfway through the sentence! It actually continues, ‘…and the day of vengeance of our God…’ But that was not what Jesus had come to proclaim. He had come to proclaim salvation not judgement, and we are still in that year of our Lord’s favour. AD stands for Anno Domini, which means, in the year of our Lord! We are in the 2,021th year of our Lord Jesus, the time of God’s favour, the time in human history when grace rules and we can find restitution with God. That day of God’s vengeance will come when Jesus returns, but until then there is ample opportunity for everyone to return to God and trust in the saving work of Jesus. Let’s be praying for anyone we know today who needs God’s grace, who needs to experience forgiveness, and to find the hope of a restored life. Today is still the day of salvation! 🙌🏼😊
