“”We have never been slaves to anyone. What do you mean, ‘You will be set free’?” Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin. A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” John 8:33-36 NLT
The Gospel is a bad news/good news deal. Unless we face the truth and understand the perilous state of captivity we are in, we will never understand our desperate need of salvation! But when we do, we can really begin to appreciate the Good News of Jesus, because out of God’s great mercy and love, He made a way back, a way for us to be declared, ‘Not guilty,’ a way to be freed from this captivity of sin, reconciled to relationship with God, no longer slaves but now family, with the assurance of a heavenly destination to come! Thank You Lord for the freedom you have won for me, freedom from liability, freedom from condemnation, freedom to live according to Your will, freedom to know You! Help me to use my freedom well this week, to point to the Son, so that others might also discover what it means to be truly free. Amen 🙌🏼😊
