“Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.” Matthew 6:6 MSG
The words that jump out to me there are, ‘simply and honestly.’ You don’t have to sound a certain way, or use particular religious phrases to get God’s attention, just talk to Him as you! He understands you better than you realise, He is never shocked or surprised by anything you tell Him. Prayer is not a performance to try and get into God’s good books, it’s time spent getting to know Him better, and being more authentically the child of His that He created me to be, discovering His grace, receiving his forgiveness, and accessing His wisdom and power. When I make regular time to communicate with Him, to talk, and to listen, it changes my perspective, changes my limited thinking, and keeps me spiritually healthy and going in the right direction. Lord, thank You that you are always there, that whatever mood or state of mind I am in, I can talk to you and find refuge and strength. Help me to keep it simple and honest with You, and as I do, may I have a fresh revelation of Your amazing grace today. Amen 🙏🏼❤️
