“Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.” Joshua 1:8 NLT
God was saying to Joshua, if you do what I say, if you take seriously my instructions for living, then you will get the best outcome. The only way to follow instructions though is to read them. I’ve tried putting flatpack furniture together in my own way, with barely a glimpse at the directions, thinking I know best, and it has always resulted in frustration, pieces left over, and having to undo things and try again. Life is much more complicated than a chest of drawers though, and the outcomes of our own poor attempts are never good. We need God’s instruction, we need to follow His design, even when we think we know better and disagree with what the instruction says – that takes real faith! But we’ll only know it if we read it. Lord give me courage and wisdom, like Joshua, to trust and obey. As I open my Bible today with a desire to learn, would You speak to me, correct me, train me, equip me, change me, and lead me in Your ways. Amen 🙏🏼😊
