In some versions this verse is entitled, ‘The golden rule,’ a moral code that has been used as the basis for society in many cultures and civilisations for thousands of years. Do to others what you would have them do to you! The Message paraphrase says, ‘…grab the initiative.’ Whether that is showing mercy, forgiveness, love, kindness, generosity, sending some encouragement, making a phone call, inviting to dinner. Whatever it is I think I need from other people, I’m going to make it my goal to be the one who gives it! It’s a far richer and more satisfying way to live that has the power to bring about real change! Lord, where I feel needy right now help me to turn it around and to be the one meeting that need in someone else. Help me to be available, the first to show encouragement, kindness and forgiveness to those I know who need that today. Amen 🙏🏼❤️
