“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NLT
In the first few verses of the book of Joshua, he is told three times by God to be strong and courageous! In fact he is commanded to do this, to not be afraid! But how is that possible if you are overwhelmingly feeling weak and scared? Well the answer comes in God repeating His promise that He will be with Joshua, that’s what makes the difference! As a Christian my trust is in Jesus, in His capability, in what He has already done, in His very present help, believing that just like He promised, He is always with me, the Holy Spirit dwelling within me. So I have His strength and I have His wisdom. If God is for me and with me that who can stand against me? Therefore even when I feel afraid, even when I feel out of my depth, I can be strong and courageous in my decisions and my actions! Lord, thank You that I can call on You, I can draw close to You, and I can walk with You today. As I do, may my faith in You, and not my fears of anything else, be that which determines my steps.
