Halfway there // 01-02-23

“At last the wall was completed to half its height around the entire city, for the people had worked with enthusiasm.” Nehemiah‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

In church right now we’re currently looking at the call of Nehemiah to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, something that hadn’t seemed possible for decades! But with a cry of, ‘The God of heaven will help us succeed,’ the people rallied and worked together! However, at this point when the wall is completed to half its height, enthusiasm starts to wane, people are tired, the work is tedious, and opposition kicks in, and suddenly the task feels impossible all over again, and the temptation is to quit. I’m recalling this today because we’re halfway through another week, halfway through this current half term, so how are things looking? I’m aware of a number of people struggling right now. Nehemiah’s response was to pray, to set up a system of guarding each other, and to encourage the people to, ‘Remember the Lord, who is great and glorious…’ Lord, I pray for renewed energy and enthusiasm for each one of us. Help us to press on, and to keep building. You are the God of heaven, and no matter the challenge You are able to help us succeed in the work You have called us to as we fix our eyes on You. Amen 🙌🏼😊

If you need some prayer or encouragement today, don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for it 🙏🏼
