“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls. For My yoke is easy [to bear] and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 AMP
These verses were highlighted to me again this weekend, and it’s worth hearing this invitation from Jesus afresh! We can make Christianity so complicated when really it is all about just turning to Jesus and sitting at His feet. In fact on another occasion He said that really this was the one thing we needed more than anything else, the best thing, that which is to our advantage! Lord, help me to keep my eyes, my thoughts, my attention on You. I come, not because I am strong and have it all together but because I are weak. I come, not because of my own worthiness but because I need Your mercy and help. I come, because You love me and my hope is in You today. Speak to me, teach me, and may I experience the rest, and renewal, and peace that You have promised to all who come to You. Amen 👆🏼🙏🏼
