Singing at midnight // 15-08-23

“Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening.” Acts 16:25 NLT

In Acts we read about these two men, who were arrested, stripped, beaten, thrown into jail – into the inner prison, maximum security, feet put in stocks, in an agonising position (that’s what it says in the Amplified version). The situation couldn’t have been much worse, the injustice, the brutality, no way out. ‘God we were serving you, we’re trying to be obedient to your call and this is what we get? Aren’t you meant to bless us – isn’t that the deal? Why would you allow this to happen to me? If you loved me you wouldn’t let me go through this, It’s not fair!!’ would be common responses. But when you know God is with you even in that dungeon, when you know that He has ways of using every situation for good, when you understand that present troubles in this world do not mean that God has abandoned you but that He always has a plan, and these troubles are nothing in comparison to the glory to come – when you can praise and worship, and thank God in all circumstances, it brings such a sense of peace! God thank You that my life IS in your hands, and I don’t need to fear, worry or stress about any outcomes today. Keep me in Your peace I pray. Amen 👆🏼🙏🏼❤️
