“Very early on Sunday morning, just at sunrise, they went to the tomb. On the way they were asking each other, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” But as they arrived, they looked up and saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled aside.” Mark 16:2-4 NLT
I was rereading the account of the resurrection this morning, and was struck by this question, ‘Who will roll away the stone for us?’ We’re told that this stone was very large. It was meant to stop people from going in, and on this occasion it was to keep Jesus from coming out! But despite its size it was rolled aside all the same! I think we ask similar questions of immovable problems in our lives. We often don’t have the strength or the know how when faced with our issues, which can look like real obstacles to us getting to Jesus. But I’m reminded today that nothing is an obstacle to Jesus getting to us! Death could not hold him, that very large stone was no match for God’s mighty power! And even though those women knew that the stone was there, they went anyway, trusting that God would make a way! Who will roll away the stone for us? God can! Lord, I don’t know how, but I’m trusting that You will roll aside the stones that are standing in my way today, as I draw close to You. Amen 👆🏼🙏🏼
