Take a new grip // 03-10-23

“No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way. So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees.” Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

That last sentence puts me in mind of someone training in the gym, engaging in the routine discipline of lifting weights. My one time attempt at doing this, when I did weight training for a week, was so painful, my body was so sore, and yet my muscle mass started to grow. If only I had continued lol. Pain and difficulty often make us want to quit, and yet as we embrace the discipline, like an athlete getting ready for the Olympics, it is what builds resilience, it is what ultimately gets us in the arena, and it’s the same spiritually! God is equipping and strengthening us for a life of faith, and it takes training us, being disciplined in His ways, so that we can lift more effectively. So come on, your trainer is not being horrible to you as He disciplines you, He is trying to keep you safe and on course, ensuring you reach your full potential. So take a new grip, even if your hands are feeling tired right now! Get up on your feet, even though your knees are feeling weak! Now is not the time to quit, it’s actually when you’re going to grow the most, and don’t forget that Jesus is right there with You. Trust Him, He’s not going to let you buckle👆🏼🏋🏼‍♀️🙏🏼
