Drift is another consequence of indifference. To drift is to be carried slowly by a current from one place to another. It can happen without us even noticing when we don’t pay close attention. What current is carrying you at the moment and where is it taking you? As you take a moment to look around are you closer to God and to His family of faith and pursuing His purposes, or have you drifted away somewhere else? Jesus is the Truth, if our lives are not orientated around Him , if we have become indifferent to who He is and what He says then we will be pulled away by the deceptive currents of the age. Thank God it’s not too late to turn back; to listen once again to the things we have heard, to pay attention to the revealed work of Christ and to put our trust in Him. Lord, save us from drifting from the truth, from being carried away because we have stopped paying attention and have just gone with the flow of our own thoughts and desires.
