I love this prayer, taken from Psalm 139 that I return to again and again! Our hearts can be so deceitful, and our thoughts intrusive and negative when left unchallenged and unhealed. It is so helpful to look to God, to weigh it all up with Him and not just accept that what I feel in my heart or think in my mind is true! Because of sin our lives are broken, our hearts need restoring and our way of thinking needs changing, so it is vital that we seek out that godly discernment and wisdom! Search me, Lord! Test me, Lord! Lead me, Lord! I don’t want my life dominated and directed by the temporal, but by that which is everlasting. Save me from obeying my fickle feelings and anxious thoughts without questioning, (lead me not into temptation but deliver me from evil) may I remain alert and close to Your heart, humbled under Your hand, and steadfast in going the way of Your Kingdom, Your power and Your glory.
