My groaning and my cries // 18-10-22

“O Lord, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you. Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.” Psalms‬ ‭5‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The Psalmist here, David, shows us what an honest and trusting relationship with God can really look like. There are no airs and graces, no praying in a certain way to sound spiritual or to try and manipulate God with his words, he just communicates his raw groaning and the cries of his heart. He tells God exactly how he feels and he reminds God of what he needs. But he also acknowledges God as His King, he talks to God everyday, and his prayers come with an expectation that God will answer! This Psalm might start with groaning but it ends with an appreciation of God’s love and the joy that comes to all those who take refuge in Him! Thank You, Father God, that I can run to You on my worst day, that I can tell You everything and You hear me! Thank You that You are my shield, You are my comforter and my provider, my very present help. Amen 🙏🏼❤️
