Anguish and praise // 19-10-22

“My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Why are You so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning?” Psalms‬ ‭22‬:‭1‬ ‭AMP‬‬

This Psalm is entitled, ‘A cry of anguish and a song of praise.’ These two things might seem completely at odds with each other and yet in turning to God groans really can turn to praise! This is the very Psalm Jesus was said to be reciting as He hung on the cross, a song written hundred of years earlier that prophetically pointed to His crucifixion and the work of salvation. Go read the whole Psalm if you can in this translation and be amazed at the final verse! Thank You Lord for the truth of Your words that blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted, that as we come to You groaning, anxious, afraid, guilty and sad, You turn that mourning into dancing, our sorrow into joy. How good to know You Jesus, the God who saves! Amen 🙌🏼❤️
