Keep your eyes on the cross // 06-02-23

“…let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us, [looking away from all that will distract us and] focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith [the first incentive for our belief and the One who brings our faith to maturity], who for the joy [of accomplishing the goal] set before Him endured the cross…” Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Yesterday I went for an eye test and had a scan called an OCT that can identify health conditions before you get any symptoms. As I rested my chin on the bar and looked into the machine the staff member said to me, ‘There will be different lights in your vision but just keep your eyes on the cross!’ Wow, I’d just come from church, but right there in Specsavers it was like God was reminding me yet again to never lose sight of what is most important! There are so many distractions, so many things that can take our attention in life but it’s only the cross of Christ that brings peace and healing to our souls, only the work of Jesus on the cross that identifies what is wrong in our life, but more than that deals with it to make us right! And the cross also reminds us of how loved we are, the huge value God places upon us, the high price He paid to redeem us. Jesus endured the cross but then He conquered death and the grave, now that’s something we can get excited about! Lord, whatever is calling for my attention this week, I pray You will keep reminding me and helping me to keep my eyes on the cross. It may seem like foolishness to some, but to those of us being saved, it is the very power of God (1 Corinthians 1:18). May that power be activated in me today I pray. Amen 🙌🏼😊
