Spiritual complacency // 25-04-23

“…this is a critical time. It is already the hour for you to awaken from your sleep [of spiritual complacency]; for our salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed [in Christ]. The night [this present evil age] is almost gone and the day [of Christ’s return] is almost here. So let us fling away the works of darkness and put on the [full] armour of light.” Romans‬ ‭13‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Iwoke up early yesterday with the word, ‘Awaken’ in my head, and felt challenged to immediately get up, showered and dressed. As I opened my Bible App this was the verse I was drawn to, the next challenge to address my spiritual complacency! The word complacency means ‘self-satisfaction, especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers and deficiencies.’ Wow, that’s a dangerous place to be! My prayer, Lord, forgive me for my complacency, wake me up to the spiritual reality around me, and to the evil of this present age that seeks to lull me into a false sense of security. Help me to fling away the works of darkness, to recognise the urgency of the hour, and to put on Your armour of light, that I might live wide awake spiritually speaking, alert to Your leading and ready for Your coming return! Amen 👆🏼🙏🏼
