“Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become restless and disturbed within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall again praise Him For the help of His presence.” Psalms 42:5 AMP
It is so easy to get restless and disturbed in this confusing, troubling, out of control world that we find ourselves in! The why isn’t hard to answer with the constant reminders of a society that is so broken, the news full of stories right now of hospitals and support services that are overwhelmed, prisons overcrowded, real time images of wars and earthquakes, and it’s no wonder that our minds, wills and emotions are struggling to cope! And yet the Psalmist here tells us that even though we might feel despair we can still put our hope in God and wait expectantly for Him! The issue of despair, the issues that we have in this life directly related to the God-rejecting, God-less world we are currently in. We need to turn back to Him! We can’t do life without Him, look at the mess we have made of it all! We need the help of His presence, the understanding that it’s in praising Him that we find the joy that we so desperately need! Lord Jesus, thank You for all You have done to save us, to reconcile with us, to bring us into Your Kingdom through the cross and Your resurrection. Thank You that I can call on Your name today, and I can know the help of Your presence today! I’m talking to my soul and telling myself to put my hope in God to trust in Him and I will praise Him, my Rock and my Redeemer. Amen 👆🏼🙏🏼
