Spiritually dull and indifferent // 27-11-23

“Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent.” Hebrews‬ ‭6‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭NLT‬

One of my Facebook memories yesterday was this quote, ‘Indifference is the most insidious danger of all… action is the only remedy to indifference!’ It reminded me that this is still one of the greatest threats to community and to a life of adventurous faith that we need to fight against as Christians! Indifference is a lack of interest or concern; mediocrity; apathy; not caring! Indifference will tell you that it doesn’t matter if you’re there or not, and that it won’t make a difference anyway so why even bother. Indifference, when it takes hold, stops us getting involved, it stops us helping, it stops us looking after each other, it keeps us away from church, (from sharing the work load and the prayer burden, from using our gifting, and from being present for those who need family and who do turn up needing that tangible touch from God that He wants us to bring). It convinces us that we have no responsibility in reaching this world with the Good News of the Gospel, or in showing God’s love to a world in need. Lord, save us from becoming spiritually dull and indifferent! Help us to love like our lives depend upon it, because the reality is that they do! Grow us into active members of Your family of faith, dynamic in our presence together, willing and available to sharpen each other up to see Your Kingdom come. Amen 👆🏼❤️🙏🏼
