Don’t be afraid! // 11-12-23

“Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Saviour—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!“ Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬-‭11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

At the start of another week with maybe a long ‘to do’ list and uncertainties about the days ahead, it’s worth hearing the words of the angel to the shepherds once again, “Don’t be afraid!” But how is that possible if I am afraid? It’s all well and good to tell me not to be afraid but that’s easier said than done if I am already in that place of fear! It’s a matter of focus. I can fill my mind with all that is fear inducing, or I can think about the good news that can bring me joy. I can listen to my own negative thoughts or tune in to what God wants me to hear. I can be fearful of my own perceived weakness or be thankful for the strength that comes from God’s Word. The Good News of a Saviour is worth thinking about. To know Jesus as Lord, understanding that He is in charge, He has a plan, and He is able to do anything, brings incredible relief. Trusting that the joy of the Lord is my strength and I am loved causes me to not let fear have the final say! Thank You Lord for Your presence that calms all my fears, give me the courage to keep listening, believing and following You. Amen 👆🏼🙏🏼❤️
