The joyful call to worship // 21-12-23

“Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, Lord. They rejoice all day long in your wonderful reputation. They exult in your righteousness. You are their glorious strength.” Psalms‬ ‭89‬:‭15‬-‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

What is this joyful call to worship that brings real happiness? It’s that invitation to declare Jesus as Lord, to believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead and in response to offer my life back to Him! Worship is giving worth to what we deem as most important; what we give our time, talent and treasure to shows what we value the most! To worship Jesus is to honour Him with our lives. The shepherds and the wise men in the Christmas story heard about Him, they left what they knew to find Him and ultimately they acknowledged Him as King! In Psalm 89 happiness is found in walking in the light of HIS presence, not selfishly going my own way. It’s found in rejoicing in HIS reputation, not striving to make a reputation for myself. It’s found in exulting in HIS righteousness, not trusting in my own. It’s leaning into HIS glorious strength not focusing on my weakness! Thank You Lord that following You is not some miserable obligation but a joyful call to worship. Help me this Advent to walk in the light of Your presence, to rejoice in Your wonderful reputation, to exult in Your righteousness that is mine through Your death on a cross, and to trust in Your glorious strength shown through Your resurrection. As I love You and Worship You Lord Jesus may my heart be filled with joy. Amen 👆🏼🙌🏼❤️
