“For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.“ 2 Timothy 1:9 NLT
Listening to a podcast yesterday I was reminded of this two-fold nature of God’s plan – to save us AND to call us to live a holy life! To be called is to be invited; to be gifted a divine opportunity to step into God’s purpose for our lives! So many of us Christians though only have a sense of what we have been saved from with no real thought of what we have been saved and called to! A holy life, is a life that is set apart for God, where we get to represent His Kingdom and carry His message, one that points others to Him and gives glory to Him! To live a holy life therefore is to be obedient to His Word, responding to His call, choosing to walk His paths and trusting His leading. It’s a life that is God honoring not self serving, that reflects His character, His love and His light into a world that desperately needs Him! This is the outworking of being saved, not that we just get a free ticket to heaven when we die, but that we grow in relationship with the God who saved us right here, becoming more like Jesus and involved in His Kingdom purposes, to know Him and to make Him known, right now! Lord, thank You for the amazing gift of salvation, now help me to understand the power and privilege of Your calling and what it actually means to live out that holy life! Amen 👆🏼❤️🙏🏼
