Rebuke the wind // 17-06-22

“When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”” Mark‬ ‭4:39-40‬ ‭NLT‬

I was listening to a talk yesterday on this passage and the preacher was talking about the reality of the spiritual realm, how the wind is an illustration of what we can’t see impacting what we can; that what happens in the spiritual realm always has an impact in the physical. Jesus rebuked the wind but spoke to the waves. To rebuke is to sharply disapprove of and criticise. He rebuked the work of the enemy, and he spoke calm to the circumstances. On the other side of that lake would be amazing encounters and life change and the enemy did not want Jesus and his disciples to get there. But Jesus has authority! It struck me that often we ignore the spiritual realm and we just rebuke our circumstances (disapprove and criticise then), so it’s no wonder that we lack peace. How much better to submit ourselves to God, rebuke the enemy, realise what his plan is and resist him, and then speak peace to our circumstances! There is amazing spiritual potential and divine purpose on the other side of the storms we find ourselves in. In Jesus’ name, let’s rebuke what the devil intends for harm, what we can’t see with our natural eyes, and let’s speak peace to the situations that we can see. If Jesus says we’re going to the other side, trust Him that that He is going to get us there. Amen? 🙏🏼😊
